New Year's Eve and the ONE campaign

A HUGE thank you to everyone who came to the new year's eve party at Cedar Creek Church. The concert was sold out with 1400 people! It was a great night and the perfect way to end the year. Also, we'd like to give a very special thank you to the ONE campaign for being there (sign up below on the right to learn more).

We pulled out some old songs and played a few new ones for the first time ever from our upcoming record, Pieces Of A Real Heart. For anyone who couldn't make it, here was the setlist:

\"Pieces Of A Real Heart\" the photoshoot and finished record - 12.15.09

It's been a busy couple months since my last blog. We've been making progress towards finishing the new record and it's pretty exciting. It goes to mastering tomorrow which is the very final step in the recording process. That means by Thursday (my birthday fyi), it should be 100% finished!

We finally have a name too. It's called, Pieces Of A Real Heart (release date: 03.09.10). We think it's our best yet. I know we say it every time, but that's because we're always trying to beat our last one and aren't happy until we have. The rock songs on Pieces are more upbeat and energetic while the ballads are more emotional. We can't wait for everyone to hear it.

We also had a photo shoot for Pieces with a guy named Tec Petaja. I wish my name was that cool. He had us tromping through weeds and creeks, standing near \"Spiny Assassin Bugs\" (seriously, look them up), and making friends with a cat with no tail we named \"Castle.\"
I must admit, we're pretty good looking ;)
Actually, Tec made us look much, much cooler than we really are. He get's all that credit, not us. Well, Chris Rohman being in the band helps too.

Otherwise, we're settling down and taking it easy for Christmas. On behalf of Sanctus Real, we hope you're having a very wonderful Christmas season with friends and family celebrating the birth of our Lord Jesus.

October & The Something Heavenly Tour - 10.22.09

We had an absolute blast on this tour. Every single person from band to crew was a joy to be around. Not to say that sometimes people didn't misbehave. I took it upon myself to dole out the punishment.

Poor Mark had a ruptured ear drum and was forced to lay in bed and put drops in his ear for the first couple weeks. It was sad. He's back in action now and has been rocking the drumkit like animal ever since.

Jason Gray opened the evening with a great acoustic set. Sanctus Real are 100% fans of this guy. We can't say enough good things about him. Check him out ----> HERE

Pete had enough of the misspellings and was determined to do something about it. Fortunately for us (not so much for Phil) Phil Wickham was sound asleep.

We've been having such a great time on tour with Phil Wickham and Jason Gray. Today's our last day with Phil sadly. We quickly became a nice little family on the road and it's sad to see it end. We did get to listen to Phil's upcoming record, Heaven & Earth, and it's really, really great. Check out his website (HERE)

Fortunately, we still have another month with Jason Gray (HERE). He also just released a new record. It's been so great listening to a man every night who earnestly seeks truth and can put such profound thoughts to music so simply and eloquently. Listen to his song \"More Like Falling In Love.\" It'll change your life.

It's been a busy couple of weeks for all of us in the Sanctus camp. We're all geared up and ready to go now though. We spent two long days locked up in Nashville rehearsing for our upcoming tour with Phil Wickham and Jason Gray. The show is looking pretty good if I do say so myself ;) We're playing a good mix from all four albums and even a few new ones. We're excited to get on the road and play. A Note About FORGIVEN

Thank you everyone who has listened to the new song or shared a story on our Forgiven community page, or spread the word...

Forgiven came from an instance when we were talking honestly as a band about feeling the wear and tear of our insecurities.  At the end of the conversation, we realized that no matter what we are or what we've done in this world, to other people, or even to ourselves, what we truly are and will always be is \"...a treasure in the arms of Christ.\"

It's so hard to see past our weakness and failures sometimes, or rather the things WE think are weakness and failures.  They can corner us...trick us into believing we can't be used effectively by God.  But God's strength is perfected in our weakness (2nd Corinthians 12:9)...It's when he can use us most!

The message we hope to convey in this song is this:
We'll always have weakness.  We'll always make honest mistakes.  It's part of being human.  God's great promise though is that we can always run into his arms, and we'll always be Forgiven

Soulfest, Kingdom bound, Dallas, & West Virginia: August 1st - 8th 2009

We've had some pretty good travels lately. After last week's Creation Festival in the beautiful NorthWest, we went to an equally beautiful spot in the NorthEast...Soulfest. This festival is held at Gunstock Mountain, a ski resort in New Hampshire. It works though because there's no snow in July. They keep the lifts running so you can take ride to the top of the of the mountain. It's an incredible view. Almost forgot I was in the United States for a minute.

I should also mention that the travels have been good because after 13 years, Sanctus Real has finally upgraded vehicles. We bought a bus!

Traveling by van has been getting more and more difficult as time goes on. Especially now that 3 out of the 5 of us have children. We've been praying for a long time for the right bus at the right price to come along. About a month ago Chris was looking online and this bad boy popped up. It was repossessed and the bank needed to get rid of it. We were more than happy to take it off their hands. So far it has been nothing but a blessing. Praise God for this answer to prayer.

Would you believe that these two vehicles were very close in price?

We're thinking of naming her Full Moon Fever. What do you think? It's a Tom Petty reference...go figure.
So anyway, it's been fun traveling lately. We have a refrigerator and electrical outlets now so I can eat cereal and make coffee anytime I want.

Other than that, we're gearing up for our new single to be released. It's called Forgiven and it's going to radio stations August 28th. We're really excited about it and think it's a good blend of the Sanctus Real you know and love (hopefully) mixed with some new things...some new spices if you will. We'll make sure to let you know all about it as it gets closer to being released.
